Worth reading before you set off — most of this comes from the Tamil Nadu government and the forest department, not from us, but we'd rather you hear it now than at a checkpoint.
An E-Pass is mandatory for every traveller entering the Nilgiris District, including Masinagudi, Ooty, Coonoor and Kotagiri. Register at epass.tnega.org before your date of arrival and carry a valid copy or screenshot while travelling — authorities may verify it at the check post.
Single-use plastics are strictly prohibited across the Nilgiris District. Vehicles are inspected at the Kakkanalla and Mudumalai (Thorarapalli) check posts. Penalties range from ₹500 to ₹10,000.
The Bandipur gate and the Thorarapalli gate at the Mudumalai border close at 9:00 PM and reopen at 6:00 AM, per Supreme Court orders. Please plan to reach before 9:00 PM.
For safety, guests are asked not to leave the resort premises after 9:00 PM. The property is secured with an electric, solar-powered fence activated at night.
Check-in is from 1:00 PM onwards and check-out is by 10:00 AM. Due to limited room availability and operational requirements, early check-in cannot be arranged for any guest — including those travelling long distances — even for an additional charge. Please plan your arrival accordingly.
Driver accommodation is not available at the resort — for safety reasons, drivers cannot stay overnight in vehicles on site due to possible wildlife movement. Nearby accommodation is available at Thomas Xavier Lodge, Masinagudi (approx. ₹300–₹400 per night). Mobile: +91 94430 01896.
Alcohol from another state is prohibited and is liable for confiscation at the check post.
The short version — see our full How to Reach Us guide for every route and the night-driving note.
The shorter 31 km route from Ooty via the Thalai Kundah check post is heavily restricted — it requires a local Nilgiris ID or a TN-43 registered vehicle. If you don't qualify, use the recommended route above.
Full How to Reach guideYour booking is confirmed only after full advance payment. Advance payment is non-refundable and non-adjustable.
