From Ooty — Shorter Route Caution

Google Maps may show a 31 km (~1 hr) route via Thalai Kundah (7 km from Ooty).

A check post here permits only vehicles with a local Nilgiris ID (driver or TN-43 registered vehicle). Hire a local driver to use this route.

Forest Gate Timings

Aranyasun sits within the Mudumalai Tiger Sanctuary. The Bandipur gate (~26 km) and the Thorarapalli gate at the Mudumalai border (~26 km) close at 9:00 PM and reopen at 6:00 AM.

Please reach before 9:00 PM — passage is not permitted after this time due to Supreme Court orders. Occasionally travel time may show as 9 hours because of this restriction.

Route Restrictions

The Thalai Kundah check post (near Ooty) allows only vehicles with a local Nilgiris ID / TN-43 registration. Authorities are strict about this route.
